1 | Play about farming family opens at Masquers Playhouse, Sept. 4
A Hollywood star crashes her siblings’ quiet farmhouse life in the latest Masquers stage production. “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike” follows siblings Vanya and Sonia as their routine unravels when their movie star sister, Masha, shows up at their Bucks County home with her young boyfriend, Spike, in tow. The comedy opens Friday and runs through Sept. 27, with performances Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons, plus a special performance on Thur., Sept. 10. The Masquers Playhouse is a community theater that has called Point Richmond home since 1960.

2 | Reception celebrates new art exhibit about memories, Sept. 4
The ar.ti.fact gallery in Point Richmond is hosting a reception for its new exhibit, Converging Memories, spotlighting the work of artists Gail Morrison and Malcolm Lubliner. The exhibit continues through Sept. 15. Morrison’s “Real or Memory” pieces will be on display through Sept. 8, followed by Lubliner’s “Automotive Landscape” pieces from Sept. 9-15.

3 | Bird watching walk at Hilltop Lake Park, Sept. 9
The Golden Gate Bird Alliance has scheduled another bird watching hike around Hilltop Lake Park. The walks are easy 1-mile strolls around the lake, with a chance to spot woodpeckers, wrens, waders, shorebirds, hummingbirds and raptors. The paved trail includes cement block benches in two places, though the park has no bathrooms or water fountains. The hike is limited to 20 people, and registration closes Mon., Sept. 7.
