3 | Community pancake brunch helps the homeless, July 25

SOS Richmond is hosting a community pancake brunch on Saturday to garner support for its programs serving unhoused people. The nonprofit provides services including showers, laundry and wellness checks. The brunch welcomes anyone “passionate about social justice, community health, housing, or simply getting more involved where you live.”

4 | Cuban music highlights Music on the Corridor, July 25

The latest Music on the Corridor concert brings live jazz, Cuban salsa, percussion and dance rhythms to the Richmond Art Center on Saturday. The Sabor de Mi Cuba performance is sponsored by the Richmond Art Center, the music nonprofit Whippoorwill and the Richmond Arts Corridor to bring vibrant entertainment back to the heart of downtown Richmond.

5 | Richmond tool library celebrating 10th anniversary, July 25

The Richmond tool library is throwing a 10th anniversary party on Saturday, complete with a tool swap, games, giveaways, raffles, food and family fun. Got tools collecting dust? Bring any safe, working tools you no longer need. Someone else might give them a new home. The free service lends tools to Richmond residents to help them become more self-sufficient. It’s open on Wednesdays and Fridays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

6 | Snacktime for grownups: A sugary, savory taste test at the library, July 29

The Richmond library is inviting adults to settle some important questions on July 29 — which Oreo cookie, Pringles chip and M&M flavors reign supreme? The Adult Tasting Challenge gives attendees 18 and older a chance to revisit their favorite childhood treats and cast their votes. All snacks will be provided.

7 | Second night of Iranian ZA is added, July 30

A trio of Iranian musicians is bringing an immersive 80-minute performance known as ZA to Richmond on July 30, exploring the sacred and ceremonial traditions of Lorestan. The concert is “rooted in the intersection of birth, grief and transcendence,” with the musicians promising to “guide audiences from lamentation toward ecstasy and transformation.” The July 30 date was added after the July 31 concert sold out.
