At its core, Nosh is here to spotlight what’s new, interesting and innovative in the East Bay food scene.
More than ever, new food ideas are being incubated and tested as pop-ups. The list of former pop-ups that have become celebrated permanent restaurants grows nearly every month. In the last year alone, Cenaduria Elvira, Bolita Masa and Saints Smokehouse have all made the transition from buzzy pop-up to full brick-and-mortar.
So, for the third year running, Nosh has curated a collection of some of our favorite food vendors on the rise and invited them for a pop-up festival at Temescal Brewing (4115 Telegraph Ave., Oakland) on July 18. And, now we have a name for this growing culinary celebration — Pop Nosh (I know, how did we not think of that sooner?).Â
This year the lineup features an array of cuisines and a selection of sweet and savory dishes. Alec Ku launched izakaya stand Aku’s BBQ in early 2025 and will be serving yakitori and more, Jade Lumpia bar, in its first appearance outside Pour Manners, will serve her Colombian-Filipino fusion menu, Smash n’ Stack Burger Shack will be grilling burgers with all the fixings, Pie on the Fly, known for regular appearances at the Kensington Market and Factory Bar in Richmond, will be turning out its creative pizzas, and Aces Ice Cream, also launched in 2025, will be selling its small-batch flavors for dessert.
The Nosh team will be there to talk all things East Bay food, DJ Wiley Coyote will provide the soundtrack for the afternoon, and we’ll be raffling off prizes. And, of course, Temescal Brewing will have its variety of brews on tap and in cans to pair with the food. The event is free to attend and family-friendly. RSVP to let us know you’re coming.
