1 | Preschool hosts musical story time for young children, May 30

There will be music, stories, food and fun at Skyjam Co-Op Preschool’s community gathering on Saturday. The Skyjam Musical Storytime features pizza, snacks, drinks, raffles and a chance to make a tie-dye shirt. The event is  geared toward children 5 and younger and their siblings.

2 | Food and music at open mic event at bookstore, May 31

The Multicultural Bookstore is hosting an open mic evening featuring singer and guitarist Wanda Gonzales along with other artists at the Richmond Showcase. Organizers promise an evening of music, food and good vibes and recommend buying tickets in advance as seating is limited.

3 | Workshop to help children regulate their emotions, June 3

The Bayview library branch is hosting a seminar to help children recognize and manage their emotions. The Workshop on Emotional Regulation teaches children simple, empowering techniques to recognize their feelings, understand their “window of tolerance,” and practice ways to feel more grounded when emotions run high. Instructors use movement, stories, interactive activities and guided breathing exercises to give children practical tools they can use every day.

4 | Sign up for summer adult basketball. Games start June 6

Sign-ups are open for Richmond’s adult summer basketball program with games every Saturday from June 6 to Aug. 29, except June 13 and July 4. All genders are welcome. Participants must be at least 18 and are asked to enroll for the whole three-month summer session.
