Richmond police said they found two people dead inside an East Richmond home Friday morning in what appears to be have been a murder-suicide.
Officers found the pair just before 10 a.m. at a home near Clinton Avenue and Yuba Street during a wellness check after a family member told police that one of the pair had sent an email saying they planned to harm themselves.
“At this time, the incident is being investigated as a murder and suicide,” said a statement, released by Richmond police on Friday night. “Investigators believe this was an isolated incident, and there is no threat to public safety.”
Police said the investigation is in the early stages and detectives are still gathering evidence.
The incident marks the second homicide investigation this week and the second of the year. On Thursday, two people shot at each other in the Fairmede-Hilltop neighborhood, leaving one person dead and the other injured.
