A Tuesday morning power outage is still affecting parts of Richmond’s Iron Triangle, Shields-Reid, and North Richmond neighborhoods, according to PG&E.
According to PG&E’s outage map, about 1,649 customers were without power as of 12:30 p.m., and numerous traffic lights were out downtown. Later in the day parts of the city showed a range of impact, from “500-4,999 people in certain areas.
The utility company said that the outage was for an “urgent” unplanned repair and began early Tuesday. Power is expected to be restored by 7 p.m.
“Our crew shut off power to make an urgent repair safely,” the outage maps stated.
Earlier in the morning, the company said that the outage was due to the weather.
According to the National Weather Service, spotty showers hit Richmond Tuesday morning. There is a 40% chance of showers this afternoon before a partly sunny afternoon and early evening, with a high near 70 degrees.
