WHAT: District 6 meet-the-candidates night, the second of three Richmondside co-hosted election events. (District 1 was held Sept. 18. Read what happened here.)

In just a couple of weeks, Richmond voters will begin casting mail-in ballots for the Nov. 5 General Election. Among the important decisions to be made are who should fill the three open seats on our City Council, in Districts 1, 5 and 6.
Increasing government transparency and civic engagement are two of Richmondside’s core values so we decided to collaborate with local media outlets to offer a series of Richmond City Council election forums to give residents a chance to hear directly from the candidates and ask them questions.
Candidates in each district are being asked to briefly present their platforms and then take questions from journalists and audience members.
The next forum is Sept. 30, featuring District 6 (North and East) candidate Shawn Dunning and incumbent Claudia Jimenez, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Memorial Auditorium Bermuda Room. (Please RSVP here.)
The free events are being presented in partnership with Richmond Confidential, El Tímpano and The Contra Costa Pulse.
The District 5 candidates night will be Oct. 8 at Easter Hill United Methodist Church, 3911 Cutting Blvd. That district represents Marina Bay, Richmond Annex, Eastshore, Cortez/Stege, Panhandle Annex, Parkview, Laurel Park and the Southwest Annex.
Candidates Ahmad Anderson and Sue Wilson are competing for the seat being vacated by longtime Richmond politician Gayle McLaughlin. (You can RSVP here.)
