Bay Area bridge tolls will go up starting Jan. 1, while the Richmond-San Rafael span will be the first to get new toll-collecting equipment.

While bike lane advocates see this as a win, transportation agencies say they need more time to “materially amend” their proposal.

State transit officials want more time to explore alternative ways of alleviating traffic jams so the bike-ped lane can remain open all week.
