Eli’s Mile High

A famed bar and music venue is closing at the end of this month. Read Nosh’s story about Eli’s Mile High Club and its significance to the local blues music scene. “The historic North Oakland venue, opened in 1974 by Eli Thornton, served as the home for West Coast blues music scene after other venues in West Oakland shuttered, giving way to the construction of BART, the 7th Street post office, I-980, and other disruptive urban renewal projects.” The venue serves food and drinks, and a Sunday brunch. The remaining weeks are filled with events, including a Halloween bash at the end of the month. Eli’s Mile High, 3629 Martin Luther King Jr Way, Oakland

Seniore’s Pizza

The Berkeley location of this pizza mini-chain has closed, a representative of Seniore’s confirmed to Nosh, adding that the ebb and flow of Cal students throughout the year made business difficult. The restaurant on Durant Avenue first opened in 2014. The franchise has several shops in the Bay Area, including a Concord location that is still open. Seniore’s Pizza, 2518 Durant Ave., Berkeley
