There/There

Alli Li, the first chef at Friends and Family Bar who also spent time at Daytrip Counter, is opening There/There in the former location of the Friends and Family. The beloved Uptown Oakland bar closed at the end of 2025, eliciting many heartfelt obituaries, including from Nosh contributor Cecilia Seiter. Li will run the new bar with an affordable cocktail menu and a nonalcoholic menu as well. The grand opening is slated for May 29 and 30. There/There, 468 25th St., Oakland 

Marufuku Ramen

Marufuku Ramen opens in Walnut Creek on Wednesday, May 27. The restaurant serves Hakata-style ramen in a rich Tonkotsu broth. The menu also includes wagyu and yakitori dishes. The local chain was founded in San Francisco’s Japantown in 2017, and now has more than a dozen locations. Marufuku Ramen, 1630 Cypress St., Walnut Creek 

West Coast Sourdough

The sandwich chain founded in San Francisco recently opened a shop in Hayward, serving about 20 types of sandwiches on their sourdough roll. West Coast Sourdough, 26201 Mission Blvd., Hayward
