Alameda restaurant closure

Hummus Republic

04.24.26: East Bay Nosh received a tip that Hummus Republic in Alameda has closed. The national website no longer lists this location, and Yelpers have also reported that it closed. The chain shop serves customizable bowls, wraps, sandwiches, pita, and fries. Hummus Republic, 2402 Central Ave., Alameda. 

Berkeley restaurant closures

Bobby G’s Pizzeria (temporary?)

04.24.26: A former employee of the 20-year-old pie shop in Berkeley has filed a $180,000 lawsuit against the restaurant. The pizza spot seems to be closed, at least temporarily, and its website is also set to private. A recent visit by Nosh during regular opening hours found the “open” sign illuminated but the restaurant completely locked up. Bobby G’s Pizzeria, 2072 University Ave., Berkeley

Juice Appeal

04.16.26: Juice Appeal, the smoothie, juice, and acai bar has closed its North Berkeley location, a Nosh tipster revealed. It has one other location in downtown Berkeley. The shuttered location is inside Epicurious Gardens food hall, and an ice cream shop is reportedly slated to take its place. Pink Cloud Tea & More

05.01.26: The tea and snack shop that opened in 2022 and served boba drinks and jianbing has closed. A tipster also notes that it was the only place in town to serve a Korean egg sandwich. There’s a sign on the windows that says a new restaurant, Dropo Sushi, is coming soon. Pink Cloud Tea & More was located at 2107 Addison St., Berkeley

Sistory Thai Kitchen

04.17.26: Yelpers report that Sistory Thai Kitchen, which first opened in 2022, has closed. The website for the restaurant, which served kao soi, crab fried rice, soups, curries, salads and more, is no longer live and the phone has been disconnected. A visit to the restaurant found a not posted to the window that states, in part, “We are taking a short vacation for Thai New Year … Reopening on April 15.” However, as of April 17, the restaurant was not open during regular hours and a peek inside revealed an entirely gutted dining room and no indication it would reopen soon. Tasty Pot

04.10.26: Tasty Pot, a chain hotpot restaurant in downtown Berkeley, has closed. A Nosh reader sent us a tip that a sign on the door said it’s permanently closed. Yelp has also reported that the restaurant is closed. Tasty Pot, 2115 Kittredge, St., Berkeley 

Wrap n Roll

04.16.26: The Pakistiani fast-casual spot on the south side of UC Berkeley campus has closed, a Nosh tipster let us know. The restaurant, which served grilled meats and veggies in wraps, rolls and plated with rice, debuted in October 2023Wrap n Roll was located at 2493 Telegraph Ave. (at Dwight Way) in Berkeley.

Oakland restaurant closures

The Crepe Pan

04.10.26: The Piedmont Avenue restaurant was in the neighborhood for 10 years, and served many sweet and savory crepes. The location was part of the Crepevine chain until 2016, when it became independent and rebranded. In addition, they served sandwiches, pastas, and salads, omelettes, and other breakfast items. The Crepe Pan, 4184 Piedmont Ave., Oakland

Grinders

05.01.26: A local favorite sandwich spot in Oakland has closed. Grinders operated in the Montclair Village for 35 years, a tiny spot that served a variety of no-nonsense sandwiches. Owner Peter York quietly retired, according to the East Bay TimesGrinders was located at 2069 Antioch Court, Oakland

The Honey Baked Ham Company

04.24.26: Redditors shared that The Honey Baked Ham shop on Piedmont Avenue has closed, with a sign on the door that says “this location has closed.” It is also no longer listed on the national company’s website. The store was a favorite for holiday gatherings for the ham and turkey; they also served sandwiches. The Honey Baked Ham Company, 4364 Piedmont Ave., Oakland

Ike’s Love and Sandwiches

04.16.26: The College Avenue location of Ike’s, a local sandwich chain, has closed, several tipsters told Nosh. Ike’s is known for their massive sandwiches with special sauce, and is vegetarian/vegan and halal friendly. Ike’s still has other locations in Uptown Oakland, Emeryville, Berkeley, El Cerrito, and Walnut Creek. Ike’s Love and Sandwiches, was located at 6310 College Ave., Ste. 140 in Oakland.

La Mexicana

05.01.26: La Mexicana restaurant in the Fruitvale neighborhood has reportedly closed. The Bay Area institution opened in 1932. The sitdown restaurant was known for handmade tortillas and homemade Mexican dishes. La Mexicana was located at 3930 International Blvd., Oakland 

Sweet Fingers Jamaican Restaurant

04.10.26: The Jamaican restaurant in East Oakland closed its doors on Sunday, April 5 in this location. The restaurant is known for its savory stews, currys, jerk chicken, and patties. However, the restaurant noted in a Facebook comment that they are “relocating to [Uptown] Oakland. More specifics to follow!” Sweet Fingers Jamaican Restaurant, 5859 Foothill Blvd., Oakland
