Immigrants can get free legal help at a workshop organized by the city of Richmond’s Immigrant Legal Services and Outreach Partnership. The Free Immigration Workshops & Clinics will provide immigrants with information about work permits, residency renewals, asylum applications and referrals to other resources. This service is available on the third Saturday of every month.

2 | Richmondside hosting mayoral election campaign forum, April 22

Richmond voters can hear from the city’s mayoral candidates at an election forum co-sponsored by Richmondside, Richmond Confidential and The Advocate of Contra Costa College. The Richmond Mayoral Candidate Forum will feature a moderated conversation as well as a community question-and-answer period. Registration is required. There are five candidates running for mayor on the June 2 primary ballot.

3 | Learn about city budget, April 22

Richmond residents can receive details on the city’s budget at the Community Budget Meeting, the third in a trio of forums designed to share details on the budget process and the city’s financial status. City employees will be there to answer questions.

4 | Chevron holding town hall, April 23

Richmond residents are invited to a Chevron-hosted discussion about local air quality. The Community Town Hall is co-sponsored by Ceres Policy Research and Chevron. The forum will provide updates on refinery operations, air quality and recent regulatory developments affecting Richmond. The meetings are part of a 2025 settlement between Chevron and the Bay Area Air Quality Management District.

5 | County supervisors seeking a planning commissioner

Contra Costa County supervisors have announced they are looking for someone to serve on the county’s planning commission. The commission is responsible for hearing and deciding applications for proposed projects in the unincorporated areas of the county. Commission meetings are usually held on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at 6:30 p.m. in Martinez. Commissioners receive $50 per meeting up to a monthly maximum of $300, plus mileage. The appointment is for a four-year term that begins on July 1.
