Inna Jam

After 15 years of supplying the East Bay with fresh, seasonally-crafted housemade jams, INNA Jam is calling it quits. The Emeryville brand, which began as a DIY fruit foraging and jamming hobby and has since accrued accolades from Epicurious and Parade Magazine, makes single-varietal jams from organic fruit sourced within 200 miles of their kitchen.

Founder Dafna Kory announced the closure on INNA Jam’s website, assuring loyal patrons that INNA Jam is not closing for financial reasons.

“There’s no problem with INNA that is causing this upcoming closure — INNA is good! Thanks to you!” the post reads. “It’s simply time for a personal change — being a jam maker and running a jam company has been fulfilling work, but also hard work. It’s time for me to change gears and make space in my life for other things.”

If you’d like to snag a jar before they’re gone for good, INNA Jam will continue selling its remaining inventory through the end of September. INNA Jam was located at 1307 61st St. (at Doyle St.) in Emeryville.

Mia Mezcaleria

A mainstay for affordable Mexican cuisine and excellent margaritas has departed Jack London Square. Mia Mezcaleria announced its sudden closure on Instagram, and the business is listed as permanently closed on Google. Though the closure was unexpected, the post alluded to hopes of returning in the near future. Mia Mezcaleria was located at 439 Water St. in Oakland.

Sugata

Japanese restaurant Sugata has closed its doors after nearly 45 years in business. The family-owned restaurant, located in Albany, offered a diverse range of Japanese fare, spanning sushi and sashimi to ramen bowls and bento boxes. Yelp has listed the business as closed, and its website appears to have been taken offline. Sugata was located at 1105 Solano Ave. (at San Pablo Ave.) in Albany.
