Berkeley restaurant closure

El Patio

06.20.25: In a heavy-hearted Instagram post, El Patio, a beloved West Berkeley bar and restaurant, announced its closing in early July. “We’ve watched kids grow up and eat their first limes here. We’ve seen people on first dates and some even get married after that first date. We’ve been here for your celebrations of life, birthdays and even weddings. We rocked a pandemic together and through your support kept us alive and all our employees employed,” the post said.

Serving Mexican and Venezuelan dishes alongside a full bar menu with over 300 different mezcal varieties, El Patio will continue to offer catering across their food and drink program, including tequila and mezcal tastings. According to ownership, the last day of service is July 3. El Patio was located at 2056 San Pablo Ave. (at Addison St.) in Berkeley.

Oakland restaurant closures

Prescott Meats Deli

08.07.25: Saddened Reddit users are mourning the unexpected loss of Prescott Meats, which quietly shuttered just months after opening in West Oakland’s Prescott Market. Known for its loaded Reuben sandwiches, pasture-raised meats and made-to-order foods, the deli is listed as permanently closed both on Yelp and on its own Instagram page. Stay tuned to find out which vendors will take its place at the market. Prescott Meats was located at 1620 18th St. in Oakland.

Seawolf Public House

07.10.25: Just shy of nine years in business, Sea Wolf Public House in the Jack London Square neighborhood permanently closed after service on Saturday, July 19. In addition to 16 taps and a full bar, Seawolf served a menu from Wilson Mendez including burgers, wings, nachos, tacos, soups and sandwiches.

“We have weathered our fair share of challenges, but our lease is up at the end of summer and we are not able to continue operating the business any longer,” said Monica Plazola, one of Seawolf’s owners, in a closing announcement. “We’ve had a lot of love and support from the community and it’s really hard to close the doors, but we have to say goodbye.”

The pub first opened on February 14, 2017, and will host its final trivia night on July 16 and a final comedy show on July 19 as it marks the closing. To help pay outstanding debt, Seawolf is holding a silent auction from 4-8 p.m. on July 12 during which a pool table, shuffleboard table, art, antiques and memorabilia will be up for bid.

“We encourage everyone to come by, raise a glass, and make the most of our final time together,” Plazola said. Sea Wolf is located at 350 Fourth St., Oakland
