The San Quentin Prison Arts Project is presenting The View from Here, an art exhibition in collaboration with Philadelphia Mural Arts. The Richmond Art Center is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays, 2540 Barrett Ave. Over the past year, incarcerated artists from San Quentin Rehabilitation Center and Philadelphia State Correctional Institution Phoenix engaged in a creative exchange, bridging the art programs at both prisons. The exhibition theme emerged from the artists’ communications, exploring life inside prison and the realms where their minds wander beyond its gates. A free Panel Discussion and Paint Day is set for 11 a.m. Saturday at the art center. Formerly incarcerated artists will discuss the value of art programs in prison.
