Happy Fourth of July to our Richmondside readers. We hope you saw yesterday’s roundup of things to do on July Fourth. While the city of Richmond officially celebrated on Wednesday, you can head to San Pablo, Pinole, El Cerrito or Albany today to enjoy live music, a parade or a drone light show.

Richmond’s kicks off Friday Nights Out

Start this weekend off with the first in a series of Richmond’s Friday Nights Out, hosted by Windchaser Wine Co., 4 p.m.-8 p.m., Friday, 1352 South 49th St. Enjoy oysters and burgers from Rocky Island Oysters, or some barbecue from Pickles N’ Smoke BBQ. For those who drink, The Factory Bar will be serving signature cocktails. The event will also feature a live performance from the traditional blues and roots group The Charles Wheal Band.
Piet Dalmolen at Golden Gate Bistro

On Saturday enjoy a performance by rock and jazz musician Piet Dalmolen at Golden Gate Bistro Restaurant, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., 803 Wright Ave. The Bistro is an American cuisine restaurant best known for their pizzas, chicken sandwiches, ribs, and fish tacos. The free outdoor music event is open to all ages and is pet friendly.
Brazilian Happiness at Sailing Goat

From 5 p.m.-8 p.m. Sunday Brazilian Happiness with Nilo Ayele, an Afro-Brazilian Band, will perform at Sailing Goat, 1900 Stenmark Drive. The music has been described as a provocative fusion of styles incorporating influences from reggae, jazz, pop, rock, and funk. The restaurant is known for its generously portioned signature fish and chips, clam chowder, and pizzas.
Fearless Father-Daughter talks

From 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday the Richmond Public Library, 325 Civic Center Plaza, is hosting a workshop for Devoted Dads of Teen and Tween Daughters. The workshop in the Madeline F. Whittlesey Community Room will be led by Dr. Carmen McNeil and will focus on helping to develop important skills to better navigate daughter-dad relationships, from learning how to make space for important conversations, navigating peer influence, empowering decision-making, and supporting healthy development. Ongoing events: Family story times, toddler time
Every week, local agencies host a variety of recurring events. See our calendar for more and add your local events there too, for free.
- Infant & Toddler Music and Movement Storytime, 10:30 a.m.-11:15 a.m. Mondays, Richmond Main Library, 325 Civic Center Plaza. This Richmond Public Library Children’s Room program includes songs, fingerplays and books that are designed for families with babies and toddlers, but all ages of children are welcome.
- Family Storytime, 10:30-11:15 a.m. Wednesdays, Richmond Main Library, 325 Civic Center Plaza. This Richmond Public Library Childrens Room program is geared toward families with toddlers, the event is a storytime session with a Richmond librarian.
- Saturdays at the Richmond Recreation Complex, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., 3230 Macdonald Ave. The complex will now be open on Saturdays with extended hours. Enjoy instructional fee-based activities such as Zumba, soccer and basketball plus games. Visit the website to register. Children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult.
