San Pablo to hold two information sessions on sales tax measure
San Pablo officials have scheduled two online sessions to provide information on Measure R, the city’s sales tax initiative on the Nov. 3 ballot. The first session, in English, will begin at 6 p.m. Thur., Aug. 27; the second, in Spanish, will begin at 6 p.m. Thur., Sept. 3. If San Pablo voters approve Measure R, it would enact a half-cent sales tax increase for five years beginning next year, raising $2 million annually for the city’s general fund. The tax increase would drop to a quarter-cent in 2032, raising $1 million annually for the general fund. San Pablo’s current sales tax is 9.5%.
NIAD launches online auction for September fashion show
You can now bid on clothing designed by NIAD Art Center students in an online auction featuring pants, shirts, skirts, shoes, and other items. The clothing is part of Glamour Moves, NIAD’s annual fashion show fundraiser. That show will take place Sat., Sept. 12.
Sustainable Richmond Expo will highlight green projects
Residents, business owners, nonprofit organizations, and community leaders will gather in late September to discuss a sustainable future in Richmond. The inaugural Sustainable Richmond Expo will provide information on green technology, clean transportation, urban agriculture, environmental initiatives, art, and education. The goal is to generate local solutions to help shape the city’s future.

Open house lets people explore Richmond’s port
Cranes, cargo ships, and decades of maritime history await visitors when one of California’s busiest ports open its doors this September. The 2026 Richmond Ports Day includes a maritime career fair at the working waterfront. Attendees can explore exhibits and informational booths, connect with community organizations and workforce development resources, and learn about maritime careers. Food trucks and family-friendly activities will round out the day.
