Were you unable to attend Richmondside’s District 4 city council candidate forum on Wednesday? No worries. You can still watch a recording of it here.

Richmond City Council candidates Soheila Bana, Keycha Gallon and Jamin Pursell participated in a moderated forum and community Q&A hosted by Richmondside at De Anza High School Library.

About the forums

The event was the last of three free primary election forums hosted by Richmondside along with Richmond Confidential, a publication of the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, and The Advocate, the student-led newspaper at Contra Costa College.

The first was for the mayoral race, and the second was for the District 3 council race. (Don’t know which district you live in? Check your address using the city’s interactive voting boundaries map.)

About the June 2 primary election

This is Richmond’s first-ever primary election after voters in 2024 passed Measure J, a ballot measure that changed the city’s election system. For the primary election, if a candidate receives more than 50% of the votes cast in their race, they will win and won’t advance to a general election run-off in November.
