2 | Three art openings headline spring exhibitions at Richmond Art Center, April 11
A trio of art shows kicks off the Spring Exhibition season at the Richmond Art Center, with works spanning contemporary fiber art, mixed media landscapes, and multifaceted sculpture. “Weaving Between the Lines” features contemporary fiber artwork from more than 30 artists. “A Turbulent Landscape” showcases mixed media works by Randy Jayne Rosenberg that evoke landscapes in motion. “Embracing the Edges of Time” highlights the multi-faceted projects of Susan Almazol. All three exhibitions run April 11 through June 5.

NIAD Art Center opens its “Convergence” exhibit on Fri., April 11, showcasing paintings, printmaking, sculpture, fiber, performance art and sound art from 45 staff members and studio artists in Richmond’s art community.

4 | Build your own miniature Japanese rock garden at the library, April 11
Curious about Japanese rock gardens? The main library branch, temporarily at the city auditorium, is hosting a hands-on class, where participants learn the elements of rock garden design before building their own miniature version using sand, stones and moss.

5 | Meet the artists behind ‘Can’t We All Just Get Along’ in Point Richmond, April 11-12
Ar-t-fact in Point Richmond is hosting an opening reception for “Can’t We All Just Get Along,” a two-person exhibit featuring works by Bonnie Leonard and Wendy Walker. The community is invited to meet the artists and mingle with neighbors at the opening this weekend. .

6 | Spot woodpeckers, raptors and more on a bird watching hike at Hilltop Lake, April 15
You can enjoy an easy one-mile jaunt around Hilltop Lake while searching the sky and landscape for birds. The Golden Gate Bird Alliance has organized a bird watching hike at the small urban Richmond lake, where you might find woodpeckers, wrens, waders, shorebirds, hummingbirds and raptors. Those joining the hike are urged to park near the southwest corner of the lake along Lakeside Drive or Research Drive. Registration closes at 11 p.m. on Mon., April 13.

7 | Richmond High students among artists showing at Berkeley exhibit
Artwork from 83 students at Richmond High School, Berkeley High School and Skyline High School in Oakland is now on display at the David Brower Center in Berkeley. The 2026 Art/Act Youth exhibit is part of the center’s For Your Planet environmental programs that encourage students to “reflect on the importance of cultivating grounded optimism in the face of the climate crisis” and to produce inspiring climate success stories.
