A man was shot to death Friday night in Richmond’s Iron Triangle neighborhood. The death marks Richmond’s second homicide of 2025. He was later identified as Jerry Williams. He was 28.
According to Richmond police, officers responded around 8:43 p.m. to Eighth Street and Lincoln Avenue after a ShotSpotter notification alerted authorities of a shooting.
A 28-year-old man was found with gunshot wounds and later died there, according to law enforcement sources.
“Despite life-saving efforts, the victim succumbed to their injuries at the scene,” Richmond police said in the press release.
Prior to the shooting, law enforcement sources said, the victim had apparently been walking on Lincoln Avenue when he was approached by a car with multiple suspects who opened fire after they got out of the vehicle.
Richmond homicide detectives responded and are currently investigating. No arrests have been made and police did not identify the victim.
Police are urging anyone with information to call Richmond police Detective Jaime Guzman at 510-210-2273.
Friday night’s shooting happened near where Richmond’s first homicide of the year occurred in July. No updates have been released in that case.
