Coffee Cultures

Coffee Cultures on Park Street in Alameda closed Jan. 31. However, it still offers a mobile coffee cart for special events. Coffee Cultures used to have several locations in San Francisco, but Alameda was “home,” where owner Jason Michael Paul was raised. Ones Cafe & Bakery, based in Castro Valley, will open a location in this spot; the opening date hasn’t been announced yet. Coffee Cultures, 1926 Park St., Alameda.

Knudsen’s Ice Creamery

After 20 years in Castro Valley, Knudsen’s announced that it is closing its doors. Knudsen’s served homemade icecream,  burgers, sandwiches, and more. Knudsen’s Ice Creamery, 3323 Castro Valley Blvd, Castro Valley

The Lodge

The Lodge, on Piedmont Avenue in Oakland, closed its doors on Jan. 31. The beloved bar was not only a bar, but served as a venue for many chef pop-ups, including Lovely’s owner Mikey Yoon as well as Navajo tacos from Rocky Yazzie. However, as the San Francisco Chronicle reports, new owners, Chris Cashin of Boathouse in Alameda and Kris Gordon, have already taken over the neighborhood bar and are planning to reopen it soon with minimal changes, including opening for lunch. The Lodge, 3758 Piedmont Ave., Oakland.

Uzen

Readers told us Uzen, a Japanese restaurant on College Avenue in Oakland’s Rockridge neighborhood, has closed. A note on the window states that they closed Jan. 31. The restaurant had been in Rockridge for 34 years and focused on sushi as well as meals such as bentos and noodles. Uzen, 5415 College Ave., Oakland.
